EVALUATION OF THE ANTIDIABETIC AND ANTIOXIDANT EFFECT OF GARLIC JUICE ON ALLOXAN INDUCE DIABETIC RAT

Medicinal plants may provide valuable therapeutic agents in modern medicine and traditional system, especially areas where the drugs are unavailable, expensive or predispose to life threatening complications. One of these is Garlic (Allium L. liliaceae) which used as foodstuff, condiment, flavoring folk medicine. The aim this study was investigate effect garlic juice on plasma glucose concentration superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity alloxan induced diabetic rats following injection with (120 mgkg-1 body weight) treated control group‘s intraperitoneally. (1ml/100g/body administered orally once daily for 28 days. result showed a statistically significant (P<0.05) decrease at day (112.86 ±2.10mg/dl) when compared 0 (202.09 ± 1.80mg/dl).
